JOCAVI ECOiso SPL20a Acoustic panels are manufactured from cork, the oldest and noblest raw material used for Acoustic and Thermal Insulation. This 100% natural cork is an excellent soundproofing material, made of selected raw material originating from 100 years old self-sustaining and renewable Portuguese cork-oak trees. The manufacturing process only uses cork and steam, with no other additives. The panels can be placed on the inner layers of walls, ceilings or floors or the outer layer as a final finishing touch. The material is simply beautiful and exotic, while also effective in eliminating unwanted sound and vibration. Control noise like never before with this sustainable acoustic material! The density is controlled at 6.87 lbs./f3, with a varying thickness between 0.8 in and 4 in. Dimensional tolerances of +/- 2mm are well within industrial standards for a 100% natural material. IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM THE MANUFACTURER: Cork is the natural shell of the cork tree. Much of the world’s cork comes from Portugal, where it has been used for centuries to protect farmers homes from field fires. The properties of cork are a gift of nature, as no chemicals are needed to process it; only the natural resin of the cork tree itself. Cork is pressed into shape at very high temperatures, releasing its natural resin to bind the cork agglomerate together. Cork has a natural aroma which disappears once unpacked from the plastic sleeves. Cut holes in the plastic wrapping if you wish to release the odor gradually. Cork tiles should be handled with care prior to installation, but are very strong and reveal all the material’s amazing natural characteristics once installed. The natural color is a dark neutral between brown and black. We would never recommend the application of any chemical to a pure natural material, but it is possible to lighten the natural dark color with water-based inks, if desired.
